The film was delayed a few years before release because of censorship issues. It was essentially ready by 2003, but released on 9 February 2007.
Many real victims’ names and actual conspirators’ names were retained in the film — the director said he wanted authenticity rather than changing names.
Filming conditions: To recreate Mumbai of 1993 (before mobile phones, modern cars, etc) the crew shot guerrilla-style on actual streets of Mumbai, often without full permissions. They had to avoid modern vehicles, billboards, signs etc.
Filming duration: Principal photography began October 2003 and was completed in about 70 days.
The film used hidden cameras in actual locations, especially slum areas and streets. They shot at Behrampura (site of actual blast) with hidden cameras.
