Deewana Mastana was made to bring together two comic powerhouses of Bollywood — Govinda and Anil Kapoor — in one film. The idea was to create a hilarious love triangle filled with confusion, comedy, and chaos, typical of David Dhawan’s 90s style. The movie aimed to entertain audiences with slapstick humor and situational comedy at a time when such films were immensely popular.
Though Deewana Mastana didn’t win major awards, it received critical appreciation for its performances — especially Johnny Lever, who was nominated for Best Comedian (Filmfare) for his hilarious role as Ghaffoor.
